Can you stay independent and still become a software partner? Sitedrive's partner Eirik shows how
Eirik Aspøy uses Sitedrive because he considers it the best construction scheduling tool for his work as an independent Construction Scheduling Consultant and Planning Specialist in Denmark. The partnership with Sitedrive formalizes a professional relationship built on that conviction.
This is what the partnership looks like in practice.
Eirik’s backstory: Carpenter, Civil Engineer, Independent Consultant
Eirik’s grandfather built his own house. So did his father. After finishing high school in Norway, he started working with a carpentry group, eventually completed his apprenticeship, and started his own construction company in Sandnes.
He could do structural calculations himself, but Norwegian regulations required a qualified engineer to sign them off. As his work developed, he increasingly encountered structural questions that required formal engineering qualifications and approval. He therefore decided to study engineering himself, moved to Copenhagen, and enrolled at the Technical University of Denmark, DTU.
At DTU, a Guest Lecturer from one of Scandinavia’s largest contractors showed his class how location-based scheduling and the Last Planner System worked in practice. He wrote his thesis using real project data from their construction sites, applied for the Lecturer’s scheduling role before graduating, and got it. He spent nearly eight years at the company: first as an Internal Consultant teaching Lean construction across their projects, then as a Project Manager where he tested his methods in practice and delivered a project early and within budget.
Today, Eirik works as an independent Construction Scheduling Consultant and Planning Specialist in Denmark. He first started consulting one day a week. Then word spread. Companies around Copenhagen found out that an independent scheduling consultant was available on an hourly basis. They called. His calendar filled. He never ran a marketing campaign, and turned down every marketing agency that approached him.
“In a specialist consultancy, much of the value is tied to the individual consultant’s experience and professional judgment, which naturally limits how far the service can scale.”
How Eirik found Sitedrive
In 2023, the Finnish scheduling software Eirik, which had been used for years, was discontinued. He needed a replacement that would work for a consultant. He contacted Sitedrive through a recommendation from a colleague in his Danish scheduling network, a group of around fifteen dedicated Schedulers who meet four times a year. Sitedrive offered a free trial and a license in exchange for ongoing feedback.
He gave them a lot of feedback. He told them which workflows required 12 clicks when 2 would do, and explained what professional Schedulers needed from a civil engineering perspective. Sitedrive made the changes. He started recommending Sitedrive to clients, and the companies he worked with moved to Sitedrive.
Why Sitedrive fits Eirik’s work
Most construction scheduling tools lock the planner into their earliest assumptions. If the location structure turns out to be wrong, or the production sequence changes as the project develops, you either work around assumptions that are no longer correct or rebuild substantial parts of the schedule from scratch.
With Sitedrive, Eirik can establish an initial structure, start developing the schedule, and refine the location hierarchy and sequence as his understanding of the project improves and more stakeholders get involved. In renovation work, where on-site conditions rarely match what the drawings say, that flexibility matters significantly.
“Sitedrive allows the planning structure to develop alongside the project instead of locking the project into the planner’s earliest assumptions.”
The other major factor is accessibility. Most scheduling software requires both strong software skills and familiarity with traditional planning systems. With Sitedrive, the most important prerequisite for the user is an understanding of how construction is carried out, rather than advanced software expertise. A Site Manager, a Foreman, or a Trades Supervisor can access the schedule, understand it, and use it as a working production tool rather than a document they wait for the planner to update.
Eirik can create specific views for different users across the project, so each person sees only the activities, locations, and timeframes relevant to their responsibilities. The schedule becomes a shared planning language across the whole project team rather than a technical document owned by the planner.
“It combines detailed and flexible scheduling with a level of simplicity and accessibility that allows the plan to be understood and used by the people who are responsible for delivering the work.”
His starting point is always the planning and advisory service. He uses Sitedrive because he considers it the best tool for supporting that work.
How Eirik became a Sitedrive Partner
Eirik had been using and recommending Sitedrive independently for a couple of years before he formalized anything. His concern was professional: a formal partnership would only make sense if it did not compromise the independence of his recommendations. He needed to ensure that clients would continue to trust his advice, which was based on his professional judgment.
The relationship became more formal when demand grew for Danish-language support and local implementation expertise. Henry Salo, the CEO of Sitedrive, asked if Eirik could take on that role.
He agreed. The partnership formalizes what was already happening: an independent professional using and recommending a tool based on his practical experience, now with a clear structure for delivering Danish-language support and continuing to shape the product.
What the Sitedrive Partnership looks like in practice
Eirik talks to the Sitedrive team regularly, often daily. He brings knowledge of the Danish market that the Finnish team lacks. They involve him where prospective or existing Danish customers need local scheduling expertise, implementation support, or knowledge of the Danish construction market.

He also continues to provide product feedback. His practical knowledge of how scheduling works on large renovation projects gives Sitedrive's team insights they would not get from inside a software company.
“As a single consultant, being a Sitedrive Partner gives you a feeling of being part of something instead of just you and yourself. We’re working together with the Sitedrive team. They ask me about a new client, and I know something about that company that they don’t, because I’m here in Denmark. Those conversations I didn’t have before. I like that feeling.”
Who this Sitedrive Partnership is for
The Sitedrive partnership makes sense for a construction professional who already has deep expertise in scheduling and planning, strong client relationships, and a genuine conviction about the tool they use. The starting point has to be the professional service. The software follows from that.
If you already do this work and you believe Sitedrive is the right tool for it, the conversation about formalizing that relationship is worth having
